Like all the songs are lush in their arrangements, pleasant easy listening, and her voice is lovely (you know I dig her stuff with Fairpoint Convention), but not a single song stuck with me. It’s like she wrote the lyrics first and then forced a song around them. It’s the same feeling I have about Joni Mitchell’s albums after Blue.

@Very_Based all the other disintegration loops votes thus far have been for the the 2012 compilation. Would you like me to change it to that to maximize its potential?

Maybe I’m just being too picky. Been listening to too much Zach Bryan and Ryan Adams lately. Both of them have such a clear ear for harmony and melody and easily can grip you emotionally to their songwriting where the words begin to pop out with more clarity. All of my favorite singer/songwriters do this. So it’s kinda hard to go back to something immediately after that’s just built off the textural quality of the instrumentation. Like she hit a note and it’s nice but then it doesn’t lead into anything as if it’s just a way to get the lyric out. It’s really difficult to pin down what I mean. Kind of a different thing, but I feel similarly about Rufus Wainwright’s self titled.

Rewatching Inside Llewyn Davis and almost every song in this he sings exemplifies the kinda singer/songwriter stuff that resonates with me. Such a good film. Top 5 Coen Brothers.
