this is true but its also been a long long time since being a legit hillbilly was necessary to make authentic country. if just being a rural dude making simpler emotional songs is what it takes to be authentic country then there will still be room for plenty of american singers to fit that mold as much as guys like willie and neil did. all im saying is be careful not to pre-judge too much before diving in
