Their debut is good. It's like a really good slint rip-off. and draws from some cool influences like klezmer. I'll have you know I knew about this band before they were cool!

Yeah the debut peaked my interest but I thought it was just like you said a “slint rip-off”. It was the sophomore that won me over because it had its own identity. It felt more emotionally grounded and distinct as opposed to the debut which is more a technical showcase.

There’s a bit of it for sure on a track like that, but when I first heard the album—my first thought was that he’s been listening to a lot of Conor Oberst. But that’s the thing — it’s a bunch of different influences rather than one clear one like the debut.
