I do have a soft spot for Element Of Crime too. They're both similar in mood. Dark, postapocalyptic, meandering yet thrilling.

Europa has imo the best visuals of von Trier's career or better said, consistently. He started using shaky cams from after that onwards so many his cinematographic pomposity fell a bit behind and imo sometimes to the detriment of his later films.

I've been on a Danny Brown kick because I'm marathoning his podcast. I talk about the album a lot, but goddamn, XXX really is one of my favorite rap albums these days.

The way the album has so much variety while also being incredibly cohesive is so impressive. It's funny as hell and also f***ing intense. That's opening trio alone has some of the funniest punchlines and imagery of the decade but the rapping is ferocious.

People make a lot of the balance between humor and horror on the album, even an absurd song like I Will takes an incredibly depressing turn at the end, but only recently has it gotten to me on a personal level because I hang around a lot of people living that life.

Stg one of my best friends has turned into the girl from Nosebleeds and Party All the Time over the past 6 months and it's extremely painful to see it happen to her. I was listening to those songs this morning and started getting choked up because the s*** was so accurate. Like goddamn Danny weren't you just talking about cool ranch Dorito p**** a minute ago
