They’re a band who is constantly trying to make their important grand statement record like a Pet Sounds or a Sgt. Pepper, but something is always missing. Most of the time the structure/pacing is off, but even when they get that right with Dark Side—the material isn’t as strong. It’s like simultaneously they’re trying to be the next great British act after The Beatles broke up while also trying to fit in with what’s going on in prog rock at the time. This doesn’t change their really consistent discography of mostly quality work or Wish You Were Here being one of the best albums of the 70’s — it’s just that I feel that what seems like they’re trying to achieve isn’t being met exactly.

I've been listening to Dark Side a lot while working out recently. funny I used to really dislike that album

such a spectaclejust got one temple done (Fire) and been grinding out shrines and sky towers like crazy. have 17 hearts and 2/3rds of the main map open (maybe 1/3 of the depths). finally got the f***ing great fairy's open for upgrades. been having the best time playing on the big screen with my girl playing on her handheld next to me.
