I'm 140k in student debt though
I just try not to let it color my decisions if I can
Hah! More than me! I owed £42000 when I graduated in 2015. I've been paying it off for 8 years. I now owe £55000
Everyone in this country was f***ing duped lol. If you were good at school you were just shepherded down that university route and told it was the right thing to do. Then successive governments hiked tuition fees to the nth degree and sold loans off to private companies charging so much interest that none of them will ever be paid off
I hate to use a buzzword like "beta" but that is the ultimate beta movie, as in the content. Dude was pathetic on another level. I like grim s*** but damn.
its kinda in the same vein as Marriage Story, except as u said the husband here is a bit more pathetic. Not something Im gonna watch again anytime soon (anyone who watches these movies on repeat should seek some serious therapy), but I did find it effective in tell its story and the acting performances great.

Is England a bizarro land where numbers countdown upwards or are you getting hyperfucked
De Palma really was dropping banger after abomination after banger after abomination in his prime
hate everything about Body Double same as I did Dressed To Kill
Dressed To Kill and Body Double are two of his best films imo.
I'd argue that they're both wildly sexist tho
Yeah typical guy bozo writing. Scarface and Carrie worked cause the actors were great and added some nuance, though the thing with Tony's sister was pretty weird.
Tony had a thing for his sister in the original version from the 30s too

Tell him he's wrong @HeyFella

But yeah I think Carrie is his best probably

The latter. I have friends who hopped straight out of university into insanely well paid grad jobs and none of them will ever pay it off either

Well (sorry, but) but this makes my dumb ass feel better. If actual smaert folk couldn't even make it work they I definitely couldnt.

He is wrong. They’re not sexist. You’d have to be silly enough to think depiction is endorsement to believe that.

It's basically just a tax for graduates here now. The more I make the more they'll take straight from my paycheck every month so I never actually see the money.
The frustrating thing is that those wealthy enough to have their parents pay for everything in the first place don't have to go through any of it. I'll end up paying significantly more than some f***ing millionaire that went to uni at the same time as me. And all that extra money will go to some evil faceless loan company who were never supposed to have anything to do with it in the first place

I don't want to like this post, because it's a horrible situation, but I'm sorry y'all are going through that. Student debt is a challenge, but the total should definitely go down as you pay it.

For what it's worth I think it's a lot more "manageable" for us here. Like if I were to lose my job tomorrow and not work for a year I wouldn't have to pay anything in that time. And if my salary were to drop I'd pay back a smaller amount each month. It's nowhere near as brutal as in the states, it can't completely f*** up your life here. It's just a pain.
As I say it's effectively a tax rather than a loan

Those two things can easily overlap though

Well they don’t here. Also I don’t give a f***.

Tbh
did he find this guy at the same generic doofus acting school Cronenberg tapped into all the time back then?
