s***faced karaoke night at the fam meetup
meeting point will be the middle point of everybody's location combined. (not including Europe I don't want to sing karaoke in the Atlantic.)
I literally do karaoke/open mic twice a week
I'm probably more relaxed on stage at this point than I am anywhere else
It's crazy because I had horrible social anxiety as a kid. I'm proof that you can rid yourself of that if you really want to.
The meme of the annoying Radiohead fan is objectively a decade old thing. People have been calling them overrated and their fans awful for a long time. Multiple of you can like Galaxy’s response, but he is just clearly wrong on claiming it isn’t a dated frame of reference. It’s like arguing Eminem is still considered cool. Also I only brought up this f***ing band that we’ve exhausted conversations about in the last ten years on here (again dated!!!) because I was talking about another band that they toured with. It was Rise who said he started liking them when he finally got over his irrational hatred because of their annoying fans (again dated!!!)
Not a bar guy as I don't really care for that kinda thing. They always have great food though so I do have a reason to go every once in a while.
and you wouldnt catch me dead at a karaoke lmao. The introvert in me is scared s***less of public settings.
If you went to a karaoke night and saw the type of characters getting up there and sucking s*** youd get a pretty quick reminder that you're taking things too seriously and you would loosen up I think

On God it's not that serious
And when you start hooking up with them it really takes the mystique away

It evened out a while ago when the amount of vocal detractors started to rival the amount of vocal fans
They're just so established now I'm surprised it's worth arguing about

That’s what I’m getting that. They’re basically grandfathered in.

Bit of powder courage

i have a drink maybe twice a year and i'm only comfortable drinking around my couple closest friends so I doubt I'd get out of my shell at a bar

Oh man, it just depends. I do a lot of gender swap stuff to challenge myself. Carly, O-Rod, Lorde. I do a really good Green Light.
My natural range falls into deeper 80s baritone stuff. There's a Light That Never Goes Out, Drive, Don't You Forget About Me. I had an Uber driver recognize me once because he remembered me singing Enjoy the Silence. That was cool I guess lol
I haven't done karaoke in a few years but the most I ever killed it was Tiny Dancer. Most I ever bombed was trying to do I Try by Macy Gray for some reason. I got booed off the stage

They've been at it as long as The Stones had been by the 90's
definitely pushing the historical limits of relevancy
Can't think of many that held it longer

Worst bomb I ever had was when I first started doing karaoke and did What Is Life. The instrumental was in the wrong key and every note I sang was bad for four minutes straight lmao I felt bad for that audience
Anyways I just watched Verhoeven’s Flesh + Blood. It was wild.
Just watched Bela Lugosi in The Raven
classic amount of villain laughter

That one’s a banger. 30’s horror up there with the 70’s for me.

you literally created this argument out of nothing when I was mostly agreeing with you on Thom's voice. I was just giving you the biggest argument I've seen against it (and maybe calling the fans 'dickriders' was cause for overreaction), but every huge artist with a huge online following will always have people finding their fans annoying or the band overrated. You're trying to disprove my personal opinion because you think my points are outdated? I never called anybody in here annoying for liking RH and have firmly kept my argument ont he band themselves (again, every band or artist will always have people calling them overrated, not a dated concept AT ALL. One of the most ridiculous sentences I've ever seen on a public forum.) Again you are creating an argument out of nothing as I was practically agreeing with you on Thom. The d***riders comment was just an aside and you took that little tidbit and ran with it. We are all d***riders of different artists,. Not a slight.
