South Asian razzle dazzle is something else man. An Indian family that bought a house just round the corner from dad's put an enormous copper eagle on the roof that shoots beams of light out of its eyes

Their album The Guest from 2002 was probably dismissed upon release for its opening track being the theme from The OC and even as a novelty act for Jason Schwartzman being involved with them around then, but in retrospect it’s a pretty excellent distillation of everything going on in popular rock music at the time. There’s a bit of everything from the post britpop era, emo, and the emerging garage rock revival. It’s also just incredibly catchy power pop generally.

It’s basically pop punk with strong power pop and emo influences. I haven’t heard any Phantom Planet, but it sounds like it might be up the same alley

I like the direction of Microcastle more. A little rougher around the edges. Halcyon Digest has this lovely, pillowy sound to it that works perfectly when I'm in the mood but in general it's a bit too easy listening when compared to Microcastle.
