Narrow Head and Cursetheknife are both such awesome s*** to have blaring in my ears when im at my desk at work.
I need to listen to NH's 2nd album and also spin their newest one a couple more times, but as of right now Satisfaction is definitely making my 21st century list. Wouldnt be surprised if one of the other 2 did as well
All this s*** you two have rec'd me after my original Narrow Head post has been on point.
Is there a name for this movement (??) of new dark/dreamwave grunge-revival type s***? I dont even know where any of these folks are from.
Wild how so much of their s*** is stuff that would fit right at home opening a show for either Soft Moon or Fugazi.
Havent felt this good about a mashup of several different styles/eras in a long time

Never listened to Great Death but damn you're actually on point about Title Fight. They used to be one of faves. Saw em a couple times in college. Shed is on my first draft 21st century list

Damn in the past week alone I've found out about Narrow Head, Bleed, Cursetheknife, Great Death, and Mistubishi Suicide from riffsquad. And all of them are dope as hell.
With those groups along with unexpectedly falling in love with that Squid album this year, 2023 might be the year i actually start getting back into new music releases again. Especially since jamming out at work gives me much more listening time now.
Btw, just finished the second NH album. I think it's fair to say all 3 of them will end up on my 21st century list lol. 2nd album might go harder than the first one tbh. When "Night Tryst" and "Emmadazey" came on thats when i knew this s*** was top tier

With those groups along with unexpectedly falling in love with that Squid album this year, 2023 might be the year i actually start getting back into new music releases again. Especially since jamming out at work gives me much more listening time now.

All 3 NH albums are rad, I think they’ve improved slightly with each release

FellaYeah absolutely. It’s on my britpop playlist. They’re considered one of the bigger bands in the “sub-genre”.

Idk to me a lot of it is just 60’s pop rock mixed with a little bit of 70’s glam and repacked for a post Smiths alt rock landscape. It’s more of a scene or wave than a sub-genre. Pulp, Suede, Oasis, and Blur all sound different. What links them is they often overlap in terms of melodic sensibilities.

the confusing part to me is people seeming to lump virtually all british alternative rock in the 90s with that label.
like i definitely see it with the song i linked earlier but the manic street preachers debut and holy bible seems to have too much hard rock and punk and not enough pop to fit with the other britpop ive heard like

full body 2 is the band im most excited about rn. their blend of haze-y guitar bullshit and electronics/drum n bass is supeer well done and the potential is limitless imo

This is a funny rebuttal, but it’s not really engaging with what I said. I never said not to call it britpop, just that it’s not really a sub-genre.

Yeah the first 3 Radiohead albums fit in pretty well. I extend the period of it from 1989 to about 2001 so more artists I’d classify as it anyway.
