been in such a "basic b****" indie alternative mood lately. You know Smiths, Arcade Fire, Strokes, Radiohead, etc.
wassup basic b**** .
Different Class should be higher & In the Aeroplane sucks.
Outside of that it’s pretty good, dunno if I’d have 36 Chambers that high but whatever.
Loveless #1 makes up for it.
Off on holiday for a week this weekend. I'm supposed to be delivering a big piece of work today but I'm just sat at my desk staring gormlessly off into space, already mentally clocked out and sinking pints. Reckon I look absolutely psychotic

I wouldn't say I hate the band as I haven't heard all their material but In the Aeroplane is such a bad album to me, all the songs sound half assed and undeveloped. Jeff just doesn't sound great to me, his vocals are off-putting.
One of the odd few albums that are heavily praised that I can't get into.

masterpiece not one of my absolute favorites or anything though
the songs definitely dont seem half assed to me, with the cryptic poetic lyrics if anything theyre kind of overdeveloped in a way, but simple when necessary; might be some of the better songwriting ive heard tbh. i think the arrangements/instruments (horns, singing saw, occasional noisiness) also make it unique. i think his voice bothered me at first but then i started to like it, its kinda like Dylan where the voice fits perfectly for the songs. glad i got to see them live a few years ago
one of favorite shows ive been to tbh

yeah i’ve always loved that album, all those songs are so beautiful and poignant while also being ugly and vague/mysterious. don’t really know how they did it tbh

I mean yeah Dylan isn't the best singer but the emotion his vocals evoke are truly beautiful but I can't say the same for Jeff. Maybe it just isn't for me lol, probably haven't dedicated much time to it for the album to grow but I'd much rather listen to something else honestly.
