The end is f***ing brutal where the chick is in the backseat and Travolta pretends not to hear her

Yeah I remembered the suicide but not not the gang rape 😳 or Travolta's attempted rape

Tbh the main scene I remembered and loved is where the dad keeps smacking him at dinner and he's like "I spend alot of time on my hair.... and then you hit it" always related

It's good but it's just nowhere near as transcendent

I don’t really find that album to be that transcendent. Their darker earlier work does that for me. Songs like Five Ten Fiftyfold and Musette & Drums. Head over Heels is my favorite album of theirs and it sounds like their most confident statement. Heaven or Vegas by comparison feels like a transition record. It rarely reaches the melodic heavenliness implied by its beautiful textures. There’s this small kinda bridge section (1:58 - 2:25) in the first track on it that does match that implication and it’s the peak of the album for me. It never quite gets there again. They don’t even repeat that section in the song it’s from to let it sit with you, it just kinda comes and goes. It’s a great album but there’s something always disappointing about it for me.

    Where do you rank Treasure?

I’ve never fully connected with it the way other people do. It’s great—don’t get me wrong and I like it a lot when listening to it, but when I think back on it I don’t feel much. It’s mostly pleasant throughout but it doesn’t have the same highs as some of their others. Blue Bell Knoll is the one I need to sit with more. Never got around to Milk & Kisses.

    1. Head Over Heels
    2. Four Calendar Cafe
    3. Heaven Or Las Vegas
    4. Garlands
    5. Treasure
    6. Blue Bell Knoll
    7. Victorialand

Honestly I don’t think there’s a bad song on any of these albums. It’s all listenable.
I also need to check out their EP’s. Which ones would any of you recommend. One of those bands I’ve always loved but never did the deep dive.
