Ken lost his s*** and destroyed his playbook
blonde is really nearing all-time overrated status, damn
Not even close to TPAB
Not even close to TPAB
man is randomly throwing "most overrated albums ever" at Frank and D'Angelo lately makes me wonder what he considers peak (properly acclaimed) r&b

Taking a moment to soak this in for the first time since I was a teenager

The D’Angelo one wasn’t that random since I brought it up first and 180’d since then and he’s always slandered Blonde but there aren’t many acclaimed R&B albums of the last 30 years
It would be hard to even find 10

Which makes it even weirder to hate on the few truly standout albums we get. I don't enjoy TPAB but I can shut up, acknowledge the craft is probably there but it's just not for me and let other people enjoy it.
Even the simplest couplets hit like a f***ing freight train in Frank's hands due to the life experience and regret he evokes;
"You ain't a kid no more, we'll never be those kids again"

All good to great but none of these immediately hit me as "the astral weeks of r&b" which is the highest praise I can think of giving

i havent even heard many of them just spitting out a list of acclaimed R&B
@Elric @twinkletoez what do you guys think of when people claim Blonde isn't even an R&B album?

never heard that but wouldn't acknowledge

I think black Singers get called “R&B” more than they should. Blonde has a lot of R&B elements/songs but it’s not just an R&B album, like Michael Jackson albums.
