Best jazz albums of the 2010s?
I'm a big fan of Matana Robert's Coin Coin Chapter 3, Tyshawn Sorey's Pillars, Yussef Kamaal's Black Focus... anyone want to add any albums to this?
Edit: forgot Wadada Leo Smith's Great Lakes Suite. Ten Freedom Summers is just too long.
Bump. Anyone else wanna weigh in on best jazz albums of 2010s?
@Aruji ? You must have some views on this right?
I’ve been replaying Bioshock since all 3 are free on PSPlus and it’s been fun but I realize why I always lose interest after a while. The world and atmosphere is so great that I get super frustrated when I realize that I can’t just explore and piece things together, I have to worry about ammo and enemies and just the more obvious gamey elements. People are way too harsh on Infinite for not having all the mechanical depth of the earlier games but honestly the amount of options gameplay wise and making sure everything is set up perfectly is stressful.
Infinite cut that back a bit and it let me just take in the universe of that game and it will always stick with me. The first game is still brilliant, I guess I just want a different experience from that world at this point. I’d honestly love to see like an HBO TV show about the rise and fall of Rapture. Like a day in the life of the city and all of its drama before the actual game starts. Maybe I’m just not into games anymore, I don’t know.

It’s crazy how much hate it gets online. That first time you enter Columbia was some magical s***.

2 is very underrated tho, that game was dope af too. crazy how they made you a big daddy and still managed to imbue the plot with such emotion
yeah, I'd add Fire! Orchestra's Exit and Enter, Matana Roberts' always., Vijay Iyers' and Leo Smith' A Cosmic Rhythmn with Each Stroke, Leo's America's National Park, Qunsin Nachoff's Path of Totality and others. I'll make a Top 15 later.
