Chuck Berry said he always wanted to play the blues but he always had food on the table growing up but he could also write songs like this occasionally so the whole thing is a fallacy don't be silly. Some of the poorest people can write some of the happiest songs and some of the most affluent artists can write some of the most sorrowful.

Hey man the fact Chuck knew what I mean says something, but just being black in 30's and 40's brought enough blues in itself.

I don't subscribe to it. My boy Gram Parsons went to Harvard and could write and perform the most soul shattering songs imaginable. Bob Marley grew up in slums that would make anywhere in the states look a-ok but has countless songs of pure uplift.
