These channels were all over my recommended a while back. I watched a couple of them and then had to start blocking the channels/vids cause they took over my feed lol

That simulation is cool though cause i can definitely see some very pale pink circles around the outside that blend with the grays. Def makes sense that its hard for you to make it out

so it did somewhat work? I guess RVI just got super-color-vision. I unfortunately cannot fact check my own colour blindness from colour blindness simulations

The first pic you posted i saw the 8 right away, and in the second pic i can still see it defined somewhat because the circles that make up the 8 are a darker shade of pink/red, then its surrounded by a bunch of circles that are lighter pink/red and gray.

Not sure how well of a simulated image that is for color blindness, cause im sure what you actually see is much more exaggerated, but it at least begins to make it clear why you're unable to tell what the number is.

Can you develop color blindness or is it only something you're born with/genetics?

those test images don't really do a good job of showing the nuances of each individuals colour-blondness cause I have a bit of the top right and I can even see some of the differences. But I guess these are just extreme examples.

no clue. I didn't notice it til I was in my mid to late teens but maybe I didn't notice it before since mine is a milder type.

I wonder how many people are colorblind their whole lives but dont figure it out until their 20s or 30s because the clues/questions for it arent very common in everyday conversation.

Like the more extreme types of colorblindness are probably diagnosed fairly early i'd assume. But i wonder how often the more nuanced types go a long time undiagnosed because the people with just dont encounter situations where it's a major issue often enough

Yeah mine only came to my own attention within conversations with friends/family over time about the colours of things seemingly at random. It quickly became a meme (still to this day) for me to mis-colour something I knew I couldn't see properly and my friends just roast me for it or visibly get upset because they know I'm saying it to trigger their proper eyesight

my twin brother also has it but yes you can develop it over time, including from diseases like glaucoma or even from medication
