The true GOAT of tv
Anybody have a personal top 10-15 GOAT based on consistency but wouldn't put an album of theirs in your top, let's say 50, albums?
Might be Neil Young for me but this Everybody Knows revisit is hitting different
I dont think i have one like that in my top 10-15. Im sure there's some artosts in my top like a top 30-50 GOATs like that. I'd have to think on it

yea that's more the norm, cause artists in most top 10-15's tend to have a couple doubles or even triples in most people's personal top 50s.
I watched a Paul Mccartney interview where Paul admitted he wasn't a technically great pianist/musician in general (he said something like 'I can kinda play the piano' (essentially true)) and the top comments were all sucking him off as to how humble he was like, 'saying Paul McCartney can kinda play the piano is an understatement'. Bro he literally admits he was never great in the video
Why can't Beatles fans accept that they weren't necessarily all time great musicians but had impeccable production behind them and a very distinctly strong group of melodic songwriters.
That being said I played Abbey Road on my new system today and it both accentuates the incredible production but also drew attention to the fact that most of the actual musical value lies within the production of the instruments together and not the musicians playing them ("She's so Heavy" sounded especially great with the organ doodling and the white noise slowly taking over the song). Still might make my list though.
Just finished the Valkyrie scene. Really incredible scene but made me feel sick to my stomach

i challenge you to find a video of an artist saying a humble statement about their instrument playing like that without comments full of fans sucking them off
i get your point but i dont really think its a beatles specific thing. feel like people also go the other way and say they were terrible at their instruments or quote that weird quincy jones interview he later took back

Which version did you go with?

Are you complaining pop stans are hyperbolic?

I totally get you and yea it's definitely not a Beatles-only thing, but a stannery of all musicians I guess. I did really enjoy the interview overall. What did Quincy Jones say? They definitely weren't terrible by any means at all.

I don't think they were being hyperbolic though. There are genuinely groups of people who probably look at the Beatles as all time 'musicians' of their instruments when most of the magic came from the songwriting itself (then creating very well produced music around that writing). I'm just complaining to complain maybe. Not Beatles hating, just Stan ranting
I'm enjoying Beatles stuff more than I have in years, but maybe cause I haven't listened in years
Feel like Snoop had the rap version. Story of a badass baby.

I definitely agree. I’d put Paul on the all time singers list but high at all
Still remember seeing this when I was 15
One of the best music videos ever. Budget had to be hefty
Which version did you go with?
Original because I couldn't find the 4K outside of blu-ray, which I should invest in soon.
Why does MBDTF get criticized for being overproduced even though LR fits that description much better.

i think he just said they were terrible musicians basically

within the context of rock music i dont think the bass playing gets a whole lot better than mccartney's. and ringo is a pretty archetypal example of the ideal role of rock drummer too a lot of the time (and occasional sloppiness can fit their songs) of course theyre not as good as jazz goats and things like that but the playing suits the songwriting for rock/pop music. never thought harrisons lead guitar during beatles was anything particularly great tbh outside of a few small moments. (mccartney/lennon also had some nice guitar parts).
i think people can conflate being skilled at an instrument vs playing parts perfect for the song, especially people that aren't musicians themselves. language like saying someone is "better" is just vague and can mean different things depending on the context.
Paul McCartney in that video probably means hes not that skilled of a player but the people in the comments are just thinking "wow, hes so humble because the piano part sounds great on let it be!"

I do quite enjoy the bass in alot of Beatles songs
Paul gets pretty groovy with it tbh.
