woofu dont like it or what
I like it fine enough but I much prefer their two self titled albums. This thread made me feel crazy for not fully connecting with it. Looked up multiple videos on YouTube of people ranking VU’s discography and they all had it in 4th place just above the obvious bottom (Squeeze). I at least think it’s more interesting than Loaded which is still a great album for what it is.

yeah, especially from a historical perspective. but i think the status of the s/t has risen in the past few decades because it appeals to the indie type crowd a lot. which i dont think is quite deserved tbh its just great to me and not near a masterpiece

The debut is generally considered the masterpiece. What are you talking about? I also didn’t go to YouTube for authorial sources on art (which is a dumb thing to believe in anyway), I just went on there out of curiosity for what random people thought. I even asked on twitter and most seem to like it but thought of it as an underrated gem in between their two great albums, not the undisputed peak or whatever.
