Yeah I could tell within 5 seconds it wasn't for me and then it just got worse. Can see the U2 comparison.

The production I don't know I just prefer the stuff that has a tinge of South American folk to it I guess. The Chilean boys have recommended me several things from the '80s and later and its not for me. Sui Generis was the same, wouldnt have been able to tell it was a South American band if you took the vocals off and the music was definitely not up to the standard I like from that era.

I don't see how it's closed-minded I can often tell when I'm going to love a song right off the bat and vice versa just off the production

what about the production turns you off so much? no im not expecting a deep technical a***ysis but it sounds extremely ordinary to me

the king of multi-listens deciding that he doesnt like something without even hearing it just struck me a bit odd is all

if i already conciouscly decided i didnt like a song as soon as it started then my perspective while listening would be different than if i just formed my opinion once the song began

but i guess maybe production also matters more to you than it does to me

@Koala you like 8Ball and MJG broski?
Have been absolutely hooked on their stuff lately, always felt they were so underrated

Oh hell yea broski, Ball and G have classics. Super home grown southern rap. Tony Draper seems like an interesting dude too, probably was a big timer who put the money to the record label :datass:

    Too real
They got that blend of Memphis and Houston all at once, and man it’s so killer

five seconds into the beat dropping i meant. idk its that flashy lush 80s sounds im not crazy about unless a real goat is singing. Sounded like Rush or something. if it was an album i would marinate but a song is different.

Going through the middle 3 Killers albums in between the first 2 good ones and their most recent 2 good ones. Was expecting this to be this massive painful drop off in quality, but they’re solid enough. Some duds here in there but nothing embarrassing like some other 2000’s rock bands like this.

2010/11 was a weird time for pop/indie music now that I look back on it. Gorillaz and MGMT were really big, The Strokes just came back and the Arctic Monkeys were still.. around.

Then when stuff like Grimes and Purity Ring and Chvrches hit shortly after it started a whole new wave

Their most recent album was surprisingly really good and a song from it came on shuffle the other day and it reminded me how nostalgic their first album was for me so I revisited it. Made me think f*** it might as well just go through the rest of the discography to hear what I’ve missed.

Never really got into them (tho Mr Brightside is a banger) but I agree theyre really nostalgic. That whole garage/revival wave or whatever you wanna call it. YYYs, Strokes, Interpol, Killers etc.

Nope. He’s someone I’ve always admired from interviews and I’ve seen so many clips from his films that I sort of felt like I got the point but damn is it a whole different experience actually watching one of them. The interview he has with Jim Jarmusch about it on the new Pink Flamingos Criterion release is great.
