they could've made a real classic psych album if they picked the right songs between this and mmt

Yeah between SFF and Yellow Submarine soundtrack they have one serious opus that would actually match things like Piper and Safe As Milk and Forever Changes

    Madsen/Penn reunion

This is one of the most stacked casts I've seen tbh

This Pearls Before Swine album is really cool. It’s like if Dylan made a baroque record. I don’t love any of it, but it’s consistent and definitely my vibe.

It's a grower too and they have more just like that

I consider Sgt Pepper a psychedelic album. I think my definition is a bit more broad.

Blue Jay Way, Strawberry Fields and Only a Northern Song on the same album would've been like an atom bomb

Not more doo woppy than their usual fare. Just one of the standard Paul music hall type songs above all

I'm not that familiar with music hall so maybe that's why I missed it

I think I prefer it to both, but I’m not sure if it’s better than the Love record.

Okay same thing with Odessey and Oracle but it’s undeniably a psychedelic album. It’s more an ineffable feeling than anything specific. You know it when you hear it.

Overall. All the British Invasion bands were trying to sound as American as possible until the Kinks got banned from touring there, said f*** the states and embraced their british music hall roots with their big "LA LA LA LA LA" singalongs and within a few months the rest of the Brits we're doing the same thing but not as good.

It's absolutely a psych classic for me. Just the more lite and pop style compared to piper or something like that

And some of the less psychedelic songs become psychedelic with the context of the album. Like the contrast between she's leaving home and within you without you. 2 very different bright colors

Fixing a hole has overtly psychedelic lyrics. Also feel like it's got a slightly wonky thing going on outside of that too

Thank you, that’s exactly the best way to word it. Specifically “some of the less psychadelic songs become psychedelic with the context of the album.”

Also more the kind of psychedelia where you are laughing and smiling uncontrollably with friends instead of going on a interdimensional odyssey

Was so shocked when it showed up in Vincent Gallo’s Brown Bunny. Dude has good taste in music. His Moonchild needle drop in Buffalo 66 was great too.
