I reckon pub songs are a way of life in Ireland and UK

Yeah but like the rock and roll generation threw that in the trash (until the kinks made it cool) and so did a bunch other rock subgenres

Country music and been the thing for generations after generation after generation down there it's nuts

I didnt enjoy a lot of JIK when it came out, but a few months later i grew to love most of it. Everything We Need and Follow God are amazing. Water, Jesus Is Lord, and God Is are some ultimate zone out songs.

Weirdly, Use This Gospel is the song i rarely go back to on that album. Meanwhile, Every Hour went from "goddamn this is annoying" to being stuck in my head for weeks (in a good way) lol

But i dont care for Selah. Never have and i dont ever see that changing

Yeah as I read this I was thinking he was probably a church kid in a way the Ken Burns Country Music documentary Lordie made me watch gave me a better understanding and... maybe not appreciation but just acceptance of the way religion and music have have merged together with society down south in really complex way. Really crazy and interesting how country music is a way of life down there in a way that none of the other genres are anywhere else really.

It really clarified Country and western for me

Gene Autry was basically a cosplayer

I nearly collapsed into a black hole of anxiety (cold sore appearance included) the few days leading up to me reciting the poem I wrote for my dad at his celebration of life but then I just got really confident in the material and had just the right amount of dirty gin ceasars beforehand and channeled my pops energy for reciting poems in front of people and killed it

Caught Nick Cave on monday. Tbh best concert I've ever seen. My friends thought the same. He even played a second encore. Guy just has such a charisma and the setlist was far better than expected.

Also caught covid there. Guess it was worth it

Yeah we're basically opposites haha. I have no problem speaking or reciting my own written material in front of people at all. Regardless of how emotional or personal.

But if i had to sing the eulogy i wrote for my grandma instead of speaking it, i'd freeze up

I think if I had to sing in that situation i would have too it was like noon and people were only half drunk

I just let loose in the car, parties, karaoke etc

Oh wow, what a treat — Cave, not the Covid (Cave-id?). What all material did he play? Hope it was a good mix of his career and not mostly late-90s onward stuff... Also cool to hear you went with a group of friends. Only two of my friends even know who Nick Cave, and one of them moved to the UK and the other is my brother who lives across the country now

Last concert i went to was Pablo Tour, and before that it was Yeezus. My excitement for seeing Charli in August has me wanting to start going to more concerts again like i used to.

Well it sounds like it was a great environment to grieve together. My mom's side of the family is more of the "cry a little, but mostly laugh and reminisce" when it comes to funerals.

My dad's side (Alabamians) are a total s***show. Like multiple people wailing loudly and older ladies "catching the holy ghost" and speaking in tongues while an open casket is sitting in the room

Pablo the only concert I ever went to. It was like a month before the infamous Sacramento show and cancellations. Got lucky I suppose

I feel like a lot of Kanye’s music in general is very Dunkey-ish
