Didnt Kubrick or Hitchcock fire off a gun near an actors head to scare them for a scene? Lots of scumbag directors in general do wild s*** but they were crazy reckless back then

That was Friedkin while shooting the exorcist

    Pun intended

Bergman is great but he’s done so much work that he’s tackled way more ground than any of them. They’re more consistent with their specific fascinations. Bergman is more into the human experience whether that be love or death, but the other 3 are looking at broader elements of existence. They’ve all dabbled in all of these but are stronger with a particular one. The difference between spiritual and ethereal would be a personal connection to “god”and something beyond ourselves. Tarkovsky is looking more inward where Malick is looking outward at the moments between moments. Kubrick is more immediate in how clinical he is.

You not putting Lynch on that list?

Granted I haven’t seen everything he’s done but I disagree for now. Definitely top 5 though.

He doesn’t cover “The spiritual, the material, and the ethereal”?

    Blue Velvet? Straight Story?

Again you’re missing what I’m saying. It’s not that these filmmakers aren’t covering all of this but they have a focus generally.

That's funny cause i traded album recs with one of the Chileans that works for me expecting a cool south american album but he made me listen to Gorillaz Plastic Beach lol but it's not bad I guess. didn't realize when Blur folded Albarn put all his efforts into Gorillaz.

Demon Days and Plastic Beach both genuinely great albums, everything since has been very patchy. But he's built up so many hits over the years with that project that their setlist is all killer.

Kinda gutted both The Strokes and Massive Attack pulled out, think they would both have been great and I feel like everyone in the world apart from me has seen The Strokes

I still maintain even if this is a boring take that the greatest filmmakers are Tarkovsky, Kubrick, and Malick. They all perfectly capture different components of existence. The spiritual, the material, and the ethereal. Mirror, 2001, and Tree Of Life would make an incredible triple feature.

    lmfao Malick
