Yeah, the old man disease lol. I had some blood tests and heart stuff done when I was in middle school to figure out why my chest would hurt so badly after running for a couple minutes.
That turned out to be a benign abnormal beat when my heart is under physical stress. But then from those blood tests they found out i had an unusually high amount of ulric acid in my body, which they said is likely an early developed case of gout. i have a list from my doctor of foods/drinks i need to stay away from to prevent a gout flare up, which isn't hard because out of the ~20ish items on the list, i already don't eat 17 of them at all.
I went through all of middle and high school, and all of college (especially getting blackout every weekend and alcohol being on the "no no" list), without ever having a single shred of experience that confirmed i actually had gout.
Until one day when i was 25 or 26, and i ate biscuits & gravy (another "bad food" item) two days in a row when visiting my parents for thanksgiving. 5 days later, i woke up and one of my big toes felt a little sore like i stubbed it. The next day, i couldn't move my toe without it feeling like someone was cutting it off with a rusty knife. The next day (and for 2 days after), i literally could not walk the pain was so bad. It felt like that scene in Misery with the wooden blocks and sledgehammer had happened to my foot.
Flare ups rarely ever happen, maybe once every 2 years, but christ they are f***ing terrible. It's usually just one of my big toes where all the pain comes from, but this recent flare up last week was literally my entire left ankle. I thought i twisted it at first cause i dont remember eating any foods i wasnt supposed to. The next day i woke up and was begging my husband to just take me to the ER and have them amputate my foot. S*** is hell
Jeez man
take care of yourself

I try!
It's unbelievably annoying going to a breakfast place and seeing biscuits & gravy on the menu knowing i can't have it unless i wanna be paralzyed and in immense pain for a few days
My mom cooked that s*** every saturday morning for us, and she used to make it every time i came to visit for a weekend. And the B&G at Waffle House is michelin star tier quality. One of my favorite all time foods and my ultimate comfort food. But God has stripped that simple joy from life because he likes to see me suffer

Yeah that sucks, but I'm sure remembering the pain is a good deterrent. Maybe go full fish/veggie mode
Health nuts after a while typically cant look at anything else without feeling nauseous.

I eat fish more than any other meat tbh. It's always been my fave.
But i dont really have to watch what i eat, cause like i said i already dont eat 95% of the "gout trigger foods" list. The only things on it that i'd normally eat fairly regularly are B&G, sharp cheeses, and candy.
I do eat a lot of candy some times cause i get in moods where i become a fiend for a good sour or fruit candy. Or putting reese's cups in the freezer and going ham on them a couple hours later. But i never eat enough at once to cause a flare up.
And in case you're wondering: Yes, the list literally says "biscuits and gravy". Not biscuits alone. Not white gravy alone. It lists the actual dish lol. Nobody can ever tell if that's just because i went to a doctor in the South, or if the heavenly combination of those two things somehow chemically results in the ultimate kryptonite for gout victims
why is it so hard to find a god damn neurologist in nyc
Damn i'd assume you could throw a rock in that city and hit an acclaimed neurologist.
Why you need one tho?

That's so oddly specific I cant help but think it's a southern thing
That is a godly combo though. Especially with some fried chicken

They too good
There's also these little guava hard candies that our favorite Thai restaurant in Kentucky handed out at the end of your meal, and they are so f***ing delicious that i ended up ordering two jumbo bags of them for myself. I have hundreds of them now. I have to keep them out of sight or else i'll end up eating 30 of them while watching TV without even thinking about it like a zombie

silent migraines
What are silent migraines? Dont think ive heard of those. Hope its nothing crazy serious fam
Blow Pops are gonna be my downfall tho. I can eat 4 or 5 blow pops back to back like its nothing
I gotta stop doing that tbh. Im a slave to candy forreal

Weird cause my 28 year old gf woke up with a horrendous old man disease today
shingles outbreak on her poor face
Doctors saying there's been an unusual amount of people coming in with it lately and they're starting to think its related to the vaccine.

My husband has been scaring me with that s*** about my rash... He said it looks like it might be shingles. Cortisone cream did nothing after 2 days. So today i dropped $50 on Zanfel and another $8 on Ivarest just to be safe. I'm super allergic to poison ivy and oak, and i know Zanfel works miracles with those. It's already gotten better over the past 12 hours.
So im leaning towards it not being shingles and i mustve just come into contact with some plant during our new house inspection that made me break out. My rash isn't in the typical shingles pattern either, so that gives me more hope.
I also haven't been vaccinated yet, so if it is shingles then i know that didn't cause it. And if the vax is somehow connected to waking up shingles in people early, then i shouldnt be one of people affect by that...yet.
Based and Redpilled Elric arc coming soon!!!!
uh oh
I guess it's just lucky that Elric's fave position is one where the girl is facing away from you

Yeah I love those things. Sour Skittles might be the goat candy though.

I used to love sour skittles when i was younger, until they started turning the roof of my mouth into hamburger meat. I have barely touched them since...but their sourness is GOAT.
The black cherry warheads are also one of those candies that quickly go from 3 seconds of being so sour it's almost painful, to delicious fruit flavor

i remember as kids we'd buy a ton of warheads and see how much we could eat before we pretty much started puking. i gave a black cherry one to my grandma once and she immediately spit it out and threw it at me
