Hell, you can probably say that about a bunch of younger people watching seinfeld right now tbh. I wouldn't think that Cochran's mannerisms and persona are well-known amongst that generation — his name alone is probably what people are familiar with, if anything.

Seinfeld and David were greatly influenced by zany comedies (Marx Bros, Abbott and Costello, Jerry Lewis) and wanted to do their own version of that with the show. I think Chiles and Steinbrenner work as pure tributes to the screwball era.

Oh it for sure works on its own. I dont feel like many parodies in general ever achieve that tbh
