"Here Comes the Night Time revs up into a clatter of frenetic Afro-Caribbean polyrhythms before cravenly wussing out and dropping to half-speed."

    From a published music writer

thats like a 1 minute moment from one song

maybe i just cant recognize it is easily unless its really beating you over the head like remain in light or something

Either way it's on of my all time favorite albums for groove and godly bonkers percussion. Even the ballad goes.

What'd you think of the new one?

which one do you mean by the ballad supersymmetry? but yeah my last few listens have been increasingly good. compelling mystique tbh that makes it a cool and probably unexpected evolution for them if you caught on when it came out. i think you did i but i listened for the first time in like 2015 or something along with their other albums and only thought it was pretty good

gave few more listens to the new one and I am liking the 2nd part but there is a semi-hook thing in the first part I can't really get over did you see what the tracklist looked like? a lot of different parts for songs and apparently a different theme(?)n for side A vs. B so I'm thinking the real purpose of the new songs might just unravel along with the whole. Nigel Godrich production btw

the song titles would have you think theyre going prog lowkey lol

If you caught on when it came out :elon: bro my whole life was leading up to that moment and I doubt if my anticipation for a new album by an artist I'm an established stan of will ever meet the hype Reflector (and Yeezus) did that year I had already seen them twice and was absolutely ready for this evolution and then they performed it 5 minutes from my house at my towns music festival that summer and life was complete. Ballad I meant was After Life but Supersymmetry is actually serene

I'm with you on that new one I think, I really like the second part and the transition is awesome cool but the "don't quit on me" s*** ain't really doing it for me

  • Mar 18, 2022

I listened to Funeral for the first time in ages yesterday. Imagine having to live up to that for the rest of your career, absolute masterpiece

yeah and the way he says "quit" just sounds kinda weird to me

this may be partially a result of me being abnormally bad at deciphering lyrics but it really sounded like he was saying "kway it" or "court" or some s***, i had to look up the lyrics

dw its only 40 minutes long

tbh some of Reflektor is kinda "proggy" in a way with some of the longer songs and their structures (maybe just art rock instead) and i definitely wouldnt mind more of that with a few 7 minute songs maybe
