who are some of your fav painters ? tbh i can appreciate art but never really dove in at all.
white album is 60s bro
and british steel is 1980
Well you need to get on Rust Never Sleeps, for starters. Those first two Springsteen albums too. Paul McCartney - RAM. Miles Davis - On the Corner. Most importantly - Big Star discography
damn so are you one of those big star stans. dont think i knew that
k for 70s need you to check out No Other by Gene Clark
its like the beautiful dark twisted fantasy of folk rock
i might cop it on vinyl. just been trying to tame the urge to blow a bunch more money
kinda cheap from discogs compared to a lot of others i want though

thought you were kinda indifferent
Still haven’t listened to enough compared to many but the 70’s is one of my least favorite decades for music even though it’s my favorite for film.
I say this but my favorite album of all time is from the 70’s
thought you were kinda indifferent
maybe i was like 5 years ago. itll be on my list somewhere but i can tell it still has more room to grow

Only natural since I’ve been a REM and Replacements stan for so long. Third is a masterpiece of songwriting.

one day ill convince the thread that talking so much in terms of decades is kinda wack and arbitrary and we might as well convert to "best of 1965-1974" type lists

We should do that for singles

I do like the album before it a little more but songs like the one I posted have such a unique mood

was having a late night thought the other night and thought 'what if I allowed 50s albums for the 60s list?'

You gonna raise the maximum for the ‘70s list?

of the masters
Edward Hopper

Ilya Repin

Francisco Goya

Gustav Klimt![]()

though these days I am focusing more on contemporary artists, of which I don't really have any favorites :)

ivan the terrible killing his son
My favorite painting for some reason. Something about the composition always draws my eyes. They move in this triangular way repetitively until the whole canvas sinks in.

yeh I majored in art but I just meant at the moment I'm trying to learn more about contemporary art as oppose to modern/pre-modern art
