anyone itt ever listened to Leon? The original Outside Bowie & Eno did but was rejected by all labels. By far and away the most out-there thing Bowie did. Not necessarily for Eno but I think it's a good listen for fans of both and Outside in particular.

much more intriguing than Toy imo. Kinda more reminiscent of Bad Moon Rising-era SY, Pop Group, Swans, late Pink Floyd, Laibach and modern theater than anything else in his discography. But rather relaxed, funky and jazzy.

EDIT: one of his best works imo as I'm listening to it again.

It’s remarkable how a legend like Bowie still had to deal with label bullshit. Most definitely a consequence of corporations controlling labels. I’m sure Lodger would’ve never been released if it came out 15 years later.

Definitely. The 80s had quite the shift in how label executives approached music. I read a quote by Zappa somewhere where he said that back then in the 60s label executives would look at music and see if it sells regardless of how the music necessarily sounded. Since then it had become far more rigid with plenty of conventions you would have to comply to.

his darkest work by far. He was inspired by serial killer films like Se7en when he did this.

The second half of Leon Takes Us Outside is rather uplifting tho.

It was amazing. They played for like two hours straight and didn’t let up for the entire show. The drummer goes HARD, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone play an instrument like that. Setlist was a good blend of every album and the newer material sounded great. Harmonia’s dream had me transcending

Only thing that was kind of a buzzkill were these two idiots that pushed their way in front of me when they started playing red eyes. One of them was absolutely blitzed and acting completely obnoxious. Bumping into me and s***, totally disrespectful of everyone else’s personal space, talking to eachother during songs. Then they had the AUDACITY to call me an a****** for creeping back up into the gap they made in front of them (which was my spot that I was holding for two hours before the show even started..)

There was also this coked out guy who was being kind of obnoxious but in a funny way. Him mixed with those other two kind of ruined under the pressure for me though.

It’s a shame because I never really have bad experiences like that at shows. Most of the people around here at indie shows are pretty chill and respectful. I’m not saying it ruined the show cause I still had a great night but s*** like that just pisses me off.

They also played eyes to the wind on the second night in boston but not the first my favorite WoD song
