I guess I didn’t play too many vinyl videos on Beatsense then
falling for the romantic aspect of vinyl a little more than i initially anticipated tbh
Do you mean the crackle or the manually putting on a piece of tangible art that actually exists in front of you
Do you mean the crackle or the manually putting on a piece of tangible art that actually exists in front of you
kinda the tangible art part and also how it kinda forces you to pay more attention
having a forced intermission like they were forced to back in the olden days just feels kinda different. like being forced to listen to electric ladyland in its 4 separate carefully curated sides instead of just one big piece where you might forget that side 2 was supposed to end etc.
dont really care much for the (slight) crackle either way but i have a few old ones that i got for cheap (or free) that skip too much to really play which is lame
also just knowing that a lot of the ones i have were actually owned and played by someone back when they came out and theyve just been existing concretely ever since
They need to bring back the thick of it for this Boris Johnson s***. I can already hear Malcolm going “so what if he threw a f***ing party?”

Yeah I know exactly what you mean
especially for old s*** that was specifically programmed for dopers like Ladyland was

@twinkletoez sent me his Ray Charles single of I Believe To My Soul from '59 which I consider the first hard soul song
what a guy
Showed it to be bestie on new year's when we were trippin and she was blown away
not just the music but the fact that somebody bought it for like 25 cents more than 60 years ago

The two best sounding vinyl I've heard were the Elevators debut mono and the Spector/Tina album
track those down

The “forcing you to pay attention” part is so true. Completely changes the way you view albums between the massive cover and liner notes, and having to pay attention for 20 mins at a time.

was the elevators mono better than your digital version or just the first time you heard mono of it?
already got some psych rekkids like the blues project, store owner was like "how do you know this?"
for psych i got gris gris, anthem of the sun, july, forever changes, ladyland, younger than yesterday, arthur brown, red krayola debut
Pink Floyd taking complete advantage of the “forced intermission” on The Wall
interesting
if i had to guess The Wall was probably my dad's most played album when he was growing up
imagine collecting phonograph cylinders. for the real dust heads only

Your pops must’ve been going through it

You didn't necessarily have to be

I know I’m just making fun of how the wall is a sad album

No alot sound better in mono and I'm going to have to go through each one and pick which I want to consider canon
That list
got most those of except Gris Gris and July, jealous

It's also a disco banger and rock opera

such a commercial smash people probably dont even realize its sad
i dont think its that sad anyway tbh more just "moody" but plenty of music is

It's pretty dark subject matter wise but there's a million moods on there. Ngl I find Bring The Boys Back Home super rousing
