anyone listened to the last JPEGMAFIA album? I think it's pretty awesome. Very chaotic (in a positive sense), minimal, extremely dynamic, hard-hitting, versatile and many interesting detours that I haven't really heard before. I'd def take it over Little Simz, wiki, Tyler, etc. for RAOTY.

@Koala @drjdeponytail Texans scoring 41 on the Chargers?
the Chargers are the most bipolar team
Definitely going to listen in the next few days with that glowing praise
My dude ripped it from his vinyl copy
your dude is also apparently missing the first song

Always been, they’ve been doing the same s*** for like 2 decades
about to listen while i workout
Decided to listen to lil peep instead cause I've been non stop on part one. Something about jpeg is just... uninteresting. Even though he's probably one of the most original rappers of the last decade, there's something missing from keeping my attention

Texans actually scoring 41 tho

His songs are extremely fractured full of twists and turns. I guess that can be a little difficult to get into.
He's not that good of a rapper but the total package makes him one of the most original Hip Hop artists in general imo. I think it's easy to hear when someone produces their own songs and he does it with full confidence (not knocking artists who don't do it but that was something that came to mind when I listened to him today).

He memes too hard and I don't love his delivery
Donda would probably be a 6.5 for me now. I find myself skipping quite a good number of tracks that I used to like more
Got around to Laughing Stock and while I’ve always loved that record, it hit much harder this time. Always thought it was beautiful but a bit too formless but I was able to latch onto what’s going on under all of its atmosphere. After The Flood is big, dense, gorgeous, and dramatic, but it wasn’t what I found to be the emotional peak. The following two tracks Taphead and New Grass are really what did it for me. The horns on the former and the piano on the latter sound like instruments crying while they’re lost in a haze with Mark’s voice sounding like it’s almost whispering out to them. Borderline perfect album, but my ranking of their discography is still the same.

idk fits the music imo

that's like the best song or at least one of the highlights
still only listening to silver jews and purple mountains. Been weeks now, but the writing just continues to pull me in with new rewarding insights each listen

might check these out considering how often we have the same taste

definitely worth a listen. There's a solid chance that you'll like both if u dig Pavement's stuff (malkmus is on most of the silver jews records)

Do you get what I'm saying at all about the Elevators album? No other album that year was its own self-contained world to this extent, sustaining such a unique and mysterious vibe throughout the whole album that instantly transports you to another realm in space-time. Insane laser focus for a group of Texas hippies that must have just stumbled into the lsd world. Even had their mission statement on the back of the album cover.

You saying it’s better than Pet Sounds and Revolver can only leave me disappointed when I get around to it.

I won't say it's better but I will say it has more replay value and retains a certain mystique over the years that the other albums have not (for me)
Yardbirds Roger the Engineer almost the same situation, for the spontaneous creativity tho not mystique

Also it took me a few years to even consider the album a mastapiece so I definitely wouldn't expect you to agree any time this decade
