i mean that kinda sounds like a good thing since talk talk sounds heavenly
ive never not been absolutely bored to tears while trying to listen to GYBE. and those movie/whatever samples they use
i don’t really like gybe either but the cd version of f#a# infinity is pretty damn good not gonna lie

They're similar in structure I guess technically but they are absolutely worlds apart in atmosphere and impact for me
I don’t have patience for most prog or post rock. Ooooh you gotta 20 minute track with 6 different movements. You know what we used to call that, 6 different songs and it was perfectly fine like that. Split it up nerd.

maybe you like gybe because it sounds like theyre just trying to make a movie for your ears instead of good music

this is a bizarre take on the way gy!be does things

I like the earlier more restrained less formless stuff better. Slint and Talk Talk are great. Even with prog I prefer early King Crimson to the exhausting indulgent stuff from the 70’s.

It's equally about the cataclysmic climaxes they patiently work their way toward
But yeah the found sounds and little bits of interviews and s*** convey an immense, overwhelming feeling of humanity

how about Red by Crimson?
rvi has the weirdest music taste in this thread
Fidelio somehow convinced me he knew tons of stuff about 50s 60s and 70s about 7 years ago and I've just realized he does not
cinema too kinda

That one’s a cool album for sure.I just like the moodier atmospheric stuff they did earlier. It simultaneously sounded ancient and futuristic. The haunting mood of something like Epitaph hasn’t really been recaptured by anything else.

Wtf r u talking about

"I don't actually know much 70s music" threw me through a loop recently
Also you're just diving into the titans of cinema I assumed we all knew ages ago

The 70’s was really the only decade I wasn’t super familiar with and that’s always been because I prefer the sounds of other decades. With Cinema there’s plenty of classics that are such cultural touchstones that everyone has already essentially seen them through other things. I was more interested in genre stuff.

I definitely posted tons of early rock and roll at you and the best songs thread that I assumed you knew but you didn't and generally just wanted to hear more doo wop

i assumed he mostly liked 70s/80s grindhouse italian stuff

Epitaph is definitely in its own category. otherworldly atmosphere

Red has some bangars though
