But Spielberg goes all out on the direction. Some really stunning sequences. One of the best shots of the new millennium is in it.

There’s not really any changes, it’s just extensions of what was already there. I keep hearing this and I have no idea what people are talking about. I see dudes calling it woke because the cop says to them “you’re the last white people to fail” and some critics think like that’s Spielberg speaking through the cop. To me it just highlights the cop as a classist a****** who can’t empathize with the bad hand these boys in the slums were dealt since birth. They’re the same guys. They’re likable but they do bad things. It’s the same with the Sharks. It’s funny I see some critics saying it’s not progressive enough for sticking too close to the script. No one can make up their mind. I think it’s a Rorschach test for people’s politics at this point.
I love Red Shoes, not sure if that counts though. And plenty of classic Disney musicals.
have you seen any Astaire or Kelly?

yeah funnily enough their vocalist turned me off at first. but i liked their album this year after it came out and revisited all their other albums and ended up thinking theyre all pretty decent
I feel like everyone hates Guillermo del Toro now for some reason.
He's awesome
Dude owns an entire house filled with horror props including a Linda Blair replica in the living room
I listened to Republic by New Order. Maybe I’m easy to please with this kind of music but I thought it was a really good pop record. It’s a step back from Technique and that albums full embrace of being dance music, but it ultimately still works even if it feels a bit “long” for a New Order album. I don’t think they have a truly bad song, but there are a few here that feel like they’re on the verge of becoming bad with some small part in it. There’s one track with borderline spoken word rapping that’s only saved by its catchy hook and the occasional cool switch up instrumentally. Young Offender, Regret, and Liar are the highlights for me.

Tbh his own films don't really do much for me but Del Toro himself and his influences are clossic. Same for Sean Baker with me
