@HeyFella the impression from Get Back I’m getting from the clips I’ve seen is that Paul’s relentless bossing is responsible for how solid their last 2 albums were

Yeah for sure. Dude was just coming up with classic melodies out of thin air. Got everyone into gear. I’d say Billy Preston really brought them together though.

    What is the flipside?

Paul's relentless bossing is the reason those albums aren't as good as the ones before

I’d put Let It Be… Naked up against Hard Days Night tbh

Not really official but the song selection is perfect

    RIP Michael Nesmith

My friend's old Irish dad (who also ended up being my sister's father-in-law) that I told you I had by far the best British Invasion chats with succumbed to his cancer yesterday too apparently took a moment to make sure my sister knew his old music stuff was going to me

Before I’d agree with you but it’s grown on me a ton. I think at this moment I like it slightly more than Rubber Soul and slightly less than White which despite the sheer number of quality tracks and the charm of how all over the place it is, it’s still at the end of the day messy and bloated. Tracks like Something, I Want You (She’s So Heavy), and Because push it over the edge for me.

The white album is fascinatingly cryptic and metaphorically layered in a way that rewards infinite listens but I felt like I knew exactly what every song on a Abbey Road was trying to say after 5 listens when I was 18 I agree with Lennon that Abbey Roads production is way too slick. You could whittle down the White Album into an excellent little folk album or an masterful rock album or a potent little semi psych album it's almost a proto Pablo/Donda in the way you can retrospectively format it however you want these days. Actyally people were doing the same thing in the cassette days as well and in the CD burning days.

Abbey Road just is what it is
