I’m bout to watch The Nightingale, don’t understand how it went so under the radar w good reviews & The Babadook being the director’s previous film. Baffling tbh
And it can’t be all the rape (so I’ve heard) I don’t think, bc that type of s*** actually motivates some people to see what all the fuss is about. But oh well, I’ll see for myself
Y’all were downplaying the hell out of this new Danny as well
It’s good but underwhelming imo. If you mean Danny Brown
In this music landscape any sort of disappointment puts you out of the spotlight, at least to me. Still played it a lot around release tho. And it’s still a good addition to his discog
Think @Galaxy brought this up before but Continental Shelf by Viet Cong is so much better than any other song they've made
Continental Shelf is a legit high point in music this decade. Crazy how they never followed it up with anything near that level
Off the top of my head, something like;
His n Hers
The Woods
Sound of Silver
Remain in Light
Disintergration
Films I have no clue really, I've been really s*** at committing to the idea of watching a 2 hour film and watching TV instead and then I end up watching that for longer anyway.
Not necessarily my faves but I always love Goodfellas, Hot Fuzz, Social Network, Children of Men, Terminator 2 even if they're already halfway through I'll still watch til the end
Hell yea dude you'll fit in great here, hopefully you don't disappear right away like some new people
I guess Conor might've just received the 'new Dylan' syndrome, labeled for any new singer songwriter with hype and great potential. Not his fault
I am not familiar with Elliott's music though so idk
yeah at least in his early days a lot of conor/brighteyes stuff was total ES worship

“In this music landscape”
Is it the mid-‘80s or something?
when a newbie comes and the first album on their list is elric-core
and the second one is me-core

if The Woods is one of your fav albums, we’d be happy to have you here my man

yeah people been hating on it lmao couldn’t be me. imo it’s another great album to join his other 3

i’m guessing you’ve seen it now? lol i actually watched it last month, and i can totally understand being off-put by the first few scenes. that rape/murder scene in the beginning was damn near too much, but i kept watching and i’m glad i did it. it tries it’s best to be epic, but it’s a very human movie. i liked it.

I just mean there's a lot of good music out there, so if an artist disappoints whilst still being good they're probably gonna get lost behind new contenders - at least that's how I somewhat prioritize things.

I liked it too. The amount of sexual violence is alot, but there are a lot of movies with a lot of sexual violence and this one is by a female director so idk, I think that changes things a bit? But yeah the film is maybe unbalanced w how much that stuff is in the first 30min or so.
I'm just puzzled how this film could go completely under the radar after Babadook. Jennifer Kent is a very talented director, but with the low recognition for this film I'm worried she won't get the support she deserves for whatever project comes next. And I can't recall the last story I came across that talks about Australian aboriginals, so that's another reason why I think its sad this film got relatively ignored.
I guess it's working again.
Also 90s stuck in limbo forever even after I asked Aruji to send me the list multiple times when I knew he wouldn't finish the rollout
so there's that thing. sorry about that I'll pm you as soon as I'm able to get to it. Dunno what to do with it. I guess I'm totally out on doing these list things from now on. Depends on whether you still want to complete it.

I'll try to find a way. You finish counting? I can get the rollout going gladly

nah. I haven't touched it since early November. I feel completely burnt out the past half year. I can manage to do as much as I can til new year's eve. I'll send it to you no matter what then.
