Was literally just talking on here a couple weeks ago about Disney doing this continually with international and arthouse festival releases for the past 30 years while feeding the film press and audiences the lie that consumers "vote with their money", which has caused everyday people to actually believe it and repeat the "audiences WANT to see franchise blockbusters" all over the internet.
So i cant say im surprised by this, but i guess we're just in Miramax/Weinstein era Round 2....
