Firstly they combined 3 completely different disciplines to create an event for the olympics that noone had ever done before. As in some athletes had done two of the disciplines but no-one had ever done all 3. It's like asking 100m runners to start doing gymnastics + middle distance (or vice versa). Then they came up with an insane method of scoring which multiplied the athletes finishing position in each discipline. It's hard to explain how volatile it makes the whole thing. And in the men's event, an injury to one athlete made the whole thing fall completely apart so that an althete who would otherwise have quite likely come last in the final (out of 8), based on his performance on the day, ended up winning off the same performance.

The friend that i always watched the OG show with was telling me the other day that she gave up on the new one, and she was annoyed with how all the new characters constantly reference the old ones. And she said it seemed like everyone already knows the identity Gossip Girl or something

Tbh, if they wanted to have a brand new young cast AND reference the old characters a bunch, then wouldn't the smartest (and best) move be to do a reboot where the OGs are all adults now living in Manhattan and raising their high school kids? Then the old crew could easily have that role-reversal s*** where they're in the shoes of their parents now — AND the adults could get into just as much drama as the kids (which wasn't uncommon in the old one either haha)

Speaking of the horse events, during one of the event interruption updates other night, an NBC anchorwoman came on screen and said during dressage one of the horses fractured it's leg and they took it to the Olympic veterinarian tent and put it down

they literally went from performing in their event to killing the horse in like a couple hours
