I thought it was told rather haphazardly (pacing, character writing etc.) and the general telling of the film was tongue-in-cheek Lincoln glorification as if he was Jesus reincarnated. I don't hate the real Lincoln or anything (rather on the contrary) but this was just way too much to take. I guess Fonda did a very fine job
