thoughts on Megalexandros? haven't seen it even though it has arguably the highest priority among the Angelopoulos films I yet have to watch.
is Late Spring a good starting point for Ozu?
idk tbh. Tokyo Story is more accessible due to it being relatively melodramatically directed compared to other films but Late Spring a better film and if you watched a few Kore-eda films or just Japanese family dramas in general it shouldn't be difficult.

definitely
disagree with Aruji, LS was always more accessible than TS
Snatched up TLOU2 for the 30 and even if it feels like im 10 years late, GTA 5 for 12 bucks.

might get that Doom too. I liked the last one.

camera work was godly. I don't want to give anything away but I kind of think the second half of the film could've used a little trimming. The first half had me in love with it, but the second never exactly culminated in something that hit me too hard...I guess I felt like Angelopoulos was kind of hammering in the message there for a good bit with maybe too much greek mythology? would probably be a better watch if I got some of the references more.
It's a great film though and the first hour and a half or so is just fantastic scene after scene. I do prefer the more character driven films I've seen by him and more partial to those in general anyway
definitely
