blue oyster cult definitely have some heavy metal songs. overall not fully heavy metal but i think belong in a 70s early metal/'proto-metal' list with stuff like Deep Purple

imo Zeppelin should not be on the list. theyre only "heavy metal" by the antiquated definition even though ofc they were influential and have some 'proto metal' hard rock jams

Hawkwind certainly not metal besides like 2 songs. but if we include them then Queen might be more deserving

70s metal kind of hard to categorize. a ton of hard rock stuff (heavy psych rock too) on the borderline, and a lot of bands that have heavy metal songs but who couldn't be considered wholly metal

feels weird putting the obviously less heavy UFO and BOC discogs up there with Sabbaths and Priests

Rewatched it like a week ago hadn't seen since I was like 20, probably the first Gilliam I saw other than Baron von Munchausen which is one of my top 10 childhood movies
