the irony of u complaining about ageism and bringing the most ageist take
i didn't agree with the wholesale "this is soulless music" it's no less "soulless" than any other semi-underground vibe oriented rap of the last 15 years at least lyrically but ageism really sucks. i would've made a thread about it though instead of posting it in here randomly as a way to s*** on this guy's music

it goes both ways though, saying the new gen doesn't understand music is ironically a rly polarized tiktok-brained bs take
I've been chatting w younger ppl (I think like 16-23) at experimental shows the past year just curious how they ended up there and was consistently blown away how tapped in some of them are. I also get followed by young ppl from all over the world on rym all the time and often amazed how much music they know. there's ofc toxic sides to it but ppl who grow up w the internet rn actually have unprecedented abilities to dig deep into genres and so quickly gain this encyclopedic knowledge about it, that's the other extreme next to this doomer vision of braindead don't care kids.
it's also a weird complaint bc hip hop has always been about what's hip and it's always been young ppl who end up defining that more than anything else, even most of those 90s legends going back to Tupac Nas etc were often just 20y/o when first becoming famous, Grandmaster Flash was just 21...
and it's always been ppl of the previous generation calling the new gen soulless lmao
literally. the whole point is that they're breaking rules of what was considered good taste 10 years ago, that's why it's relevant to now.
and you have to take into account that it's a whole different cultural context today, rap used to be music of the margins, today rap is popular music that can make you an international star. fakemink is on his way to that but also pushing for something fresh and new, that's to me always a cool thing to try bridge.
bottom line dude is just bitter lol. I also wanna add my lil bro had his last year in highschool and first year in uni during Covid and I still feel rly bad for him that he had no irl socializing during such a crucial time, it's the rare thing which rly f***ed all of us it's weird to belittle that kids had it easier, if anything I'd say it's the opposite.

you know what i don't actually agree with what that dude said in retrospect really at all f*** him, i didn't read it very carefully. mainly just saw a dude s*** talking ageism and had a kneejerk reaction and was tired and im passionate about the subject. my bad twin
i know what you mean though and yeah, kids these days have it waaaay harder in a lot of ways and despite that there's still a lot of hope in that gen for sure, like every gen people go doomer about. and i appreciate pretty much all out there music new and old if you see my post history so i get you, i could never be close minded about music. but yeah i don't like s***ting on generations as monoliths either, you have good kids and f***ups in every gen, that s*** is reactionary and weird. there is definitely something to the whole ipad baby tiktokbrain discourse but that's obviously not their faults, it's a failure of the parents. i also applaud any artist who is somehow able to make it work in this insanely fried tiktokified media landscape. i know more than a few artists personally for whom it was too much and have given up or are on hiatus basically, s*** is worse than ever for real music.
i was more trying to affirm that yeah ageism f***ing sucks and i feel bad that it seems to be a semi popular idea among this new crowd bc it's gonna suck when they get to even my age which is literally mid 20s lmfao. and i do think the obsession with youth in hip hop has overall been detrimental to the genre but it's not something i necessarily blame hip-hop for because really it's just unfortunate runoff from american culture as a whole
Ageism lowkey f***ed 2020s music ngl cause you’re meaning to tell me this is the only kind of acceptable music to make if you want to make it as a successful new rapper today smh this is soul less music for kids low t music smh no hip hop being pushed for late 20s-early 30s adults mainly just for kids or oldheads.
These mfs born in the 2000s so lame too lmao they’ll be 22-23 saying someone who’s 30 is old and should give up music if they haven’t made it meanwhile that’s exactly who should be getting pushed as new artists. Those guys got their adult life put on pause during covid these kids just looked at it like time off from school it’s not the same.
Pandemic and tiktok really set the standard so low that these mfs would rather just be streamers cause attention is the real currency nowadays and music is just a path to it. Smh. They be hiring these chicks straight out of college to be A&R’s too smh it’s all f***ed up rn. Tiktok npcs running the music industry.
The disconnect is so big that I’m to the point that if you’re born after 2000 or graduated any form of school on zoom your opinion on art means less to me than the paper I wiped my ass with. Just go argue on tiktok that’s more your speed.
Can you explain how this is soulless?
Grew on me like crazy bruh

your "observation" was dumb and exaggerated. your reading level must be on some 1st grade s*** if you think a couple paragraphs constitutes a dissertation.
also interesting you think fakemink somehow isn't worthy of contextual cultural discussion like that, yet appear to like him. s*** is weird, you're weird for saying anything in the first place. niggas like you who get salty and mocking about people TALKING on the FORUM DESIGNED FOR TALKING are WOAT, keep quoting me though because this convo is definitely going somewhere constructive before i block you in a bit.
