I've had plenty of conversations going back and forth about somgs/bars. as long as you aren't having it with a brainless d***riding stan (95% of this website) then it'll be a dope hip hop conversation where at the end both people understand each other perfectly and either they will agree or disagree about it

The examples you gave are easy because there's a clear gap in quality. But if you take these lines from Middle of The Ocean by Drake

You got the unfinished line about Destiny's Child, Drake saying he going to net a B like a billion but an apiarist is also a beekeeper and it ties into the next line with the "Like honey"

Now these lines off Sherane

And I'm a professional p*** star when off the Goose
I had a fifth in the trunk like Curtis Jackson for ransom

How are you going to say which is "better"? It's preference to the listener. One might appreciate the wordplay in Sherane more, someone else might prefer what Drake did in Middle of the Ocean

Obviously a nigga can't say Travis Scott ever wrote a verse that outdid what Lupe did on Mural but I just don't see how a conversation about rapping can be objective and settled when it's two verses that are more evenly matched

We're all human, we all have our biases and preferences. Maybe to a rapper or maybe the rhymes just connect more. Like that Jinzo line you dropped earlier, I f***ed with it because I watched Yu-Gi-Oh as a kid and immediately caught it. Other niggas might not have that same connection. It's just going to be the same back and forths you currently see, it's not really much more objective than the other factors being taken into account during Big 3 discussions

Kendrick isnt remotely close to a MF DOOM or Lupe for me at any age but each their own thats the point of the thread

i havent been talking about kendrick at all outside of the overall "big 3" lol

and its funny you talk about skill so much while only focusing on one part of skill

again youre a slam poetry fan not a rap fan - a book fan not a music fan

but if you want me to talk about kendrick so bad: kendrick flows and storytelling is better than Dooms, while doom is better at rhyme schemes especially with syllable matching and carrying

while with lupe its about even with story telling - while rhyme schemes lupe is better at references n metaphors - while kendrick is better at context of the topic (same in regard to Doom) and similes (although i think Doom is better than both here) - theyre both pretty good at flows but overall i think kendrick is better in that regard especially with variety

delivery kendrick is better than both and story telling kendrick is better than both (although lupe is also really good at story telling, especially if its from another perspective).

kendrick is also better at using his voice in different ways that prop up his rhymes and storytelling that become part of the act that give more nuance or impact/feeling or character to what is being rhymed.

so yeah, again, kendrick is great as an all rounder while exceeding at flow, story telling and character. good at similes and metaphors. references is probably the only noticable weak spot. he's ok at punchlines.

lupe exceeds at references n metaphors. good at punchlines n story telling. weak part is character.

doom exceeds at multi syllable n similes. everything else is ok.

lupe doesnt have as many weaknesses (if any) as them, while i think kendrick has more strengths in the bag than them. doom is better at both in one or two areas being one of the best in the class in his power areas, but he's alright in everything else.

theyre all good, and ultimately what is better to you depends on what part of skills you value more, or how you like/relate to the actual music.

now you gonna respond with actual thoughts

or are you 1. gonna goal post move, 2. ignore most of the response, 3. focus on semantics arguing, 4. make fun, or 5. insult and go off on a random tirad that creates a new random topic
