I think these new music creatives need more grace. The s*** not as sweet as ppl try to make it seem
Also I wanna see what lack of barrier of entry looks like frfr. Is it like the acts at the most recent rolling loud cause I ain’t fw most of them but shiiiid it’s a new era

A nigga like this though I concede

Op, the lady in the ig reel, and other folks in this thread are all music creatives fam.

What would less ppl making music solve
Saw this a while ago lmao
But yea the craft of making music has declined heavy to the point you have influencers treating the medium as something they can just jump into.
Like the whole "if I learn music theory, it'll make my music less creative" is a bit ridiculous, like u dont gotta live or die by it. But just knowing a few concepts will forsure help you
But then on the other hand it doesnt help that music education, programs, extra curriculums have been reduced to s*** in the U.S
I get what you saying but….

@op if you wanna get this off talk about cuts to music programs/doe cuts in general. Kid don’t learn even learn what a quarter note is anymore.
Can a little nigga still pull a girl with a guitar? I think that era might be over. Guitar niggas has a good run man.
Shout out hey there Delilah
YB never heard a single jayz song and is making classics
When tryna use “trap” niggas as a vicarious avatar to disrespect the traditionally skilled legends goes wrong lol

Why blame either here when the power lies with the label and media
Have you ever taken accountability for anything in your life?
Yeah, ngl, sometimes I see threads there like Poopittypoop dissed AudioTalibanGod, then I check the diss track and it is Guantanamo material. How are they even famous.
I guarantee you this is not a music problem lol id say writing is probably even worse

Also all those Youtube people jump into Rap, like nobody says tomorrow I am going to become a guitarist

im postin reels of me playing for nothing?
i dont got instagram so i cant watch but i agree
too many weed carriers with whack flows got placements on songs in the 90s and 00s to really believe this tbh
too many weed carriers with whack flows got placements on songs in the 90s and 00s to really believe this tbh
you are NOT lying but lemme make a rebuttal.
It was a WHOOOLE lot more assumed “weed carriers” that were able to get deals or even whole careers based off one good verse. Lot of current Busta fans dont even know Bout leaders of the new school but they know his scenario verse by heart (which got him signed)
Hell YNS just made a thread about an underrated verse from one of RZA’s mans on bobby digital that was so fire that he just named the track him (Holocaust).
There was definitely a lotta “yo this my mans” ass rappers (85% of 2pac’s outlawz feats, Na$t goddamn we really believed in that fashion lisp ass nigga because of one song smh) but there was also people that had or wanted something to prove.
Your rap fatalism blinds you to the fact that this kind of craven perversion of art for the sake of capitalism is consistent across nearly all mediums and genres that remain in vogue and profitable, to the point that it’s practically human nature
It’s practically human nature or is this just our pov of what it is (which has only ever been under a capitalistic lens?)
We dont know how music was hittin when niggas was in villages with the griots just telling oral stories through song
#realniggaalgorithm
Lmao it was a rapper or someone a few years ago who said niggas would look at you crazy if you just said one day “fuck it i just wanna join the NBA” but thats exactly how niggas do rap
The irony in this is that is kind of what’s happening in the current era. Jeff Teague and his podcast touch on how AAU is kinda ruining a lotta these kids that think s*** is sweet and focus on all the glitz and glamour of what being a basketball player is like that they end up not even getting drafted.
the key difference between nba and rap is that nba players got physicals and certain benchmarks that they gotta pass to even be seen as worthy of even getting into the draft at all. F*** a 1st rounder
what physicals or benchmarks do we have in rap?
@ShintaroKago Like for example what I mean by gatekeeping is, goddammit you aint allowed to perform at a festival until you know how to rap without the goddamn mp3. Have some goddamn breath control you are biologically in the age of your physical prime how are rappers twice your age have better breath control than you?
S*** like that would imo be a net positive for the genre. There’s Noooo reason 18-25 year olds should be struggling to rap on stage. That nigga Tyler got asthma and consistently been having some of the best live vocal performances dawg.
Can a little nigga still pull a girl with a guitar? I think that era might be over. Guitar niggas has a good run man.
Shout out hey there Delilah
Aren’t the charts filled with those hillbillies with guitars atm? Or doesn’t Morgan Wallen play the gatar himself?
When tryna use “trap” niggas as a vicarious avatar to disrespect the traditionally skilled legends goes wrong lol
!https://youtu.be/L0fLiXBE59k!https://youtu.be/B2J3kLJ8PQkHe tried it
i aint watching an instagram reel especially one that is constantly jumping around like im in the rafters, what a terrible place to initiate a discussion from
bring back treatises or stay quiet
Although based somewhat in….other things
, country didn’t play that s*** with lil nas x and shaboozey (not saying it was warranted)
Rap should have treated niggas who boldly dont take it serious the same way
They also didnt play that s*** with shaboozey cause all shaboozey did was just countrify a J-Kwon song lol.
Also woulda helped if he aint let his #innertrademarkAfrican self sabotage himself and subtlety diss the demographic that YOU LITERALLY MODELED YOUR WHOLE CAREER AFTER during your awards speech, he probably is seen in a higher favor.
Sb: It aint even hit me til now. Country is really a southern African-American thing. Going on stage as a country artist and saying immigrants made this country is f***ing wild.
@sentient_sherm_bag whether that’s true or not (and i dont like a lot of modern country either. Except brittany spencer she good). Country fans expect you to learn how to play a guitar nigga lol. Which does involve basic studying and understanding.
