NightcrawlerExcited for this super league, It's a really great idea. People don't care about 95% of football games anyway and ratings are decreasing drastically.
I think only benefit I saw from this is sky is losing bigger grip on football market is always good thing. Also paying 15 bucks for one game is ridiculous
Apr 20, 2021EuroNymousAgreed league struggles to pull in new fans, they completely ripped out active support, I know victory supporters been boycotting for years now even before they became ass. I like football but I can’t stand to watch a league tbh, I always tune in for Socceroos though watched most of qualifiers prior to COVID
But I pretty sure it’s fifa law that they want all countries to have division system
The league peaked commercially 7/8 years ago with both Sydney teams, Victory etc. all doing super well
It was great to watch back then, even now there's some good high scoring games and there's still some very good players too but as a former die hard Victory fan I just don't really care anymore
They really took their foot off the pedal, Victory specifically for how it was run internally, and the league as a whole was also damaged dramatically by COVID, plus all the active support drama which has plagued the league since and before its commercial peak
It just doesn't make sense for the way football is set up in Australia to have the former NSL teams in, and there's no real interest around for future franchises so it just won't work to have a second division
There's no simple answer to get the league back on its feet
