Yeah it's hard to make comparisons with american leagues but it would be kind of like: currently in the NBA small market teams have less appeal to players, TV, etc. (I only follow the NBA when there's playoffs so correct me if I'm wrong) so while in theory anyone can win the championship in reality they suffer some kind of disadvantage. However, they still can get into playoffs, upset big market teams, make s*** happen, etc. So imagine if the top 8 biggest/richest teams made a new NBA and invited 2 small teams every year, but the consequence of doing this would be f***ing up the original NBA.
