It probably came from the family though, and I can see a university acquiring it. It's still a strange trajectory to make. Like the archive of Derrida's papers is at the University of California. That the archive becomes almost like a special crypt in a far-off locale. I heard that the French are quite eager to keep Foucault's papers in France, instead of them ending up at some American university. They even acquired Sade's original scroll of the 120 Days as a cultural monument, instead of letting it go to some foreign collector (I think).

Anyway, I thought this one was pretty amusing. 😅

That expression! Harvard has some Blanchot manuscripts but I wonder if photo's would interest them? Do they study the material? Or archive and protect the items? I know universities host materials in online archives
