Intro starts with the question “do you wanna be happy?” This is the main question of the album that will follow Cole from birth to present. From 2014 FHD to 2014 AD. And that question will obviously be answered very satisfyingly when we get to the conclusion of Love Yourz.

The lyrics of GOMD when he’s talking about going home and wanting to go back to Jermaine, it’s at that point in the story he’s returning home after Hollywood and trying to adjust, this stuff isn’t really that subtle. And to be clear again Cole is not as laser focused as Kendrick, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a concept album. The album follows such a clear story arc from birth to adolescence to fame to the epiphany of Love Yourz. Love Yourz is totally set up by the whole album. Like what the f*** are we doing man this is insane

The concept of the album is Cole growing up looking for happiness and acceptance
So again, The album has a concept, Most albums do but it’s not a full thematic conceptual album
The reason it isn’t as “laser focused” as Kendrick on GKMC is because it’s a very loose story

Nobody in any genre has made concept albums as focused and clear as Kendrick’s, that’s like his main innovation on the whole art form of music
That doesn’t mean albums that tell a full clear story with clear narrative connections between songs and a whole theme that resolves itself through the heroe’s journey aren’t concept albums. Kendrick albums are not the bar, they are way above it in terms of that
It is a full thematic concept album. It tells a story more clearly than rock concept albums
