That’s not Skylar Grey 🤣
And it’s literally a Dre beat. Troll harder.

The drums are a tad generic but it’s a good beat. And Nikki Grier’s chorus is great.
fantano is really a prime example of someone who at one point was a decent critic who got his entire brain completely melted by the internet
a long time ago he was some weird idiosyncratic critic who had interesting opinions because of his ability to draw critiques across genres and backgrounds. his "hot takes" were usually a result of him being detached and making personalized opinions separate from popular discourse. even if i never liked him or watched him i at least understood his takes on stuff and he was typically more balanced than contemporaries like pitchfork reviewers. while he always poked fun at being online, you really saw him getting more online increasingly and it started f***ing with his reviews and opinions - before he did this whole "i'm a cool hip online guy" he was doing the weird ass "im a counter-culture atheist right wing guy". then he became a twitter obsessed weirdo and it started literally affecting his reviews. he's arguably worse than a lot of review outlets now
compare him with another weird idiosyncratic reviewer like christgau. christgau may have hot takes but they never feel unfair in the sense of being influenced by pop culture. all of fantano's takes feel pulled from twitter discourse in some manner now whenever i see them pop up
nah you nailed it. when he was called out for his edgy meme schtick he switched his whole demeanor...nowadays he's just pandering to a specific demographic in twitter in reaction to that and you can really see how that emotional/offended/reactive side effects of hanging on social media too much affected his brain/reviews. Shame cuz he used to have insightful opinions every now and then
that vultures video was something else and I ain't fw with that album at all
Stepping Stone on Kamikaze has always give men Encore vibes kinda like Yellow Brick Road, Like Toy Soldiers vibe.
Finished Revival now. It’s slightly better than the first listen I had on release. Arose has grown on me a little. Fave tracks will now be Castle, Framed and Arose.
Now starting Kamikaze 😎 really enjoyed this album. Played hell outta Lucky You when this album dropped.
Revival had zero business having an outro that good, like on first listen of Castle/Arose I was like ok, why couldn’t you have had this level of care with the 17 tracks before this lmao
