I'd like to know what deal he actually has with Shady. A lot of past signees haven't had actual deals but just distribution deals. Griselda for example never had an actual full signing deal with Shady, they only had a distribution one, which is why it was kinda ridiculous for them to complain about the label because it seemed like they didn't understand what their contract actually implied. Boogie is an actual signee and it seems like they've done fine with him and his album turnarounds and rollouts.
Checked an interview. Just a distribution deal. Makes sense.
I've never heard of Eminem and proof knowing eachother in high-school but let's do the math 🤔:
Eminem at 17yo dropped out of high school after failing ninth grade 3x
Google says they met in 1992 when proof joined their lil rap group with chaos kid
In 1992 Marshall would have been 20 years old (birthyear being 1972)

Well Eminem’s career is completely fabricated from the beginning
Loving/supporting mom
Acting “hood” / proofs friendship
Actually suburban
Only thing real is his wife cheating
Other than Obie Trice every single person he signs to Shady rots. This guy will be lucky to even get a verse on a shady records compilation album lol

See you grew up with him. I guess now he wasn't even cool with D12 and didn't try to kill himself when Proof died by overdosing on pills.

Cause Obie was Underground and Mainstream. He knew where he signed and made the music people wanted. All these other dudes don't belong in a mainstream label at all.
Complex magazine: We’ve got to talk about “Walkthrough!” That’s the one with the Eminem feature, and that Em verse is interesting because he’s addressing you directly. He says your name and he’s talking to you, basically warning you about what’s going to come with the success. Did you know that was coming or were you surprised when you heard that?
GRIP: Oh, no, I was surprised. I think I was on my way to the movies and my manager Tig was like, “Yo, Eminem verse incoming.” And I’m just waiting on it, I’m waiting on it, I’m waiting on it. I keep on refreshing my email like f***, man. I finally just put my phone in my pocket, I watch the movie, and by the time I get out of the movies the damn verse is there and I listen to it and I’m like, “Oh, s***. He went the f**k off.”
I made that song with Em in mind. And when I played him the album, I just remember him saying that hook is nuts. So, I was like, “Yeah, this is a song I actually wanted you to get on.” In my verse I’m talking about where I come from, what I had to get through to get to this point. Then his s*** is from a veteran’s perspective, who went through this already and who thought that cash was going to change things, but then he gets into the perils of this s***.
We didn’t talk about it beforehand. It sounded like good chemistry, but I’m just glad that he f***ed with it enough to hop on it and give it 32, 40 bars, however long he went. I was excited. That’s huge. The fact that he even mentioned my name, it was one of those things. Now it’s really full-circle. Now I got a track with Eminem. It was a surreal moment.
Just hope the collab with Em won't be bad. I don't want this project tbh.
from what grip said it looks like it will be amazing. getting my hopes down tho
Awful name
I’ve listed to Grip’s music, he’s pretty dope. Looking forward to the album. Street Knowledge!!!!
Listen to Snubnose, dope project
