this drive to maximize profit for shareholders is such a blow to business like twitter. twitter could have been tweaked a bit, with some commonsense stuff like editing a tweet 30 mins after posting, and other features. but it was more or less perfect like it was. f*** shareholders and maximizing profits. it was monetized to the perfect level and could've existed stably for however long. it'll be sad if Elon just tanks it and the application closes down. likely he'd just sell his % to some investment group but, bleh. wish it just was not touched.

pretty reasonable given both problems are issues of Musks own making, no?

I been seeing accounts have parody in their bio to not get banned for impersonation for 5+ years. If impersonation might become more of an issue with the new verification makes sense to increase the punishment. It's obviously not an attack on parody accounts who have had that rule for a long minute

It’s been losing money forever
Thank you a lot for typing this out. I wanted to read it a few times over to understand It better but I think I get a grasp. When you talk about Big Tech icons and the struggle for wanting to actually own institutions, is a benefit from this greater financial gains for plutocrats like Elon? I guess it’s kind of broad net to highlight the benefits of owning these type of institutions but is it more material gain, greater influence in policy making/public influence or a combination of them? And for “them” I mean Elon, shareholders, ceos, anyone in the higher echelons of big Tech that would be in favor of this.
didnt have a chance to respond yesterday so responding today.
its not a financial thing, its ideological - which of course is backed by money and contributes to financial structures, but its not solely about like, best means of making more money or something; its about wielding institutional power to be able to achieve ideological goals. The thing is about a lot of these tech people is they are delusional enough that they really do at least profess to believe a lot of what they claim to believe, its not complete nonsense. In a way, yes, a lot of it is about influence in policy making and public influence.
