the goal actually, as im aware, is to make twitter less dependent on ad revenue, and look for other avenues to generate profits anyways
the “tantrum and firing everyone” you’re talking about was planned before he took over and was necessary as most of the twitter workforce was unneeded, everyone in the valley knows this - twitter was massively overstaffed for being an underperforming social media company

Letting anyone buy the check mark just makes it worthless and meaningless. Whatever process there was to get verified before - you at least had to climb through some hoops to get the check mark.
Now any joe blow can just buy it and then they can come off/pretend like a legitimate source for whatever they’re tweeting about
