Honestly I do not take Elon Musk's whole thing about "Free speech" in good faith.

He just single handedly bought an entire company by himself and is trying to make it seem like he's actually a hero doing it for the people by giving them "free speech".

The right are obviously taking the bait here coz it fits their narrative that they were somehow oppressed by social media and now they are free lol.

well there have been some incidents of censorship on what some would consider "right" side s***, like the nypost thing i mentioned. said censorship definitely doesn't go up to the extreme level that some right n far right ppl talk about, as if they can't even express a sentiment re: religion or any other view they may have. but stuff like the nypost situation was a clear example. the only real censorship i've seen is along the lines of that. of course the "some replies are hidden" feature will pretty much 80% of the time be right-wing opinions, but i dont think that's as big of a deal, though i bet that feature will change too

as for musk, nah the free speech thing is obviously bein used as a marketing tool. i got 0 doubts that he'll enforce what he's sayin he will, but he's hyping it up for its marketing appeal, kinda like what you're sayin. but there's not really an inherent issue with him buying the company. the previous owners were just blackrock/vanguard investors n the like, not really morally better or worse figures. and at the very least you know they're easier to buy out than musk would likely be
