Gonna be great and the battles look sick but god damn these ps3 graphics

They needa do something next game bro

Elden Ring isn't about the assets quality. The art style/design does it for most.

Bloodborne still looks good to me.

Excited af but game still makes me feel uniquely stupid cause everybody is lost in the mythology and I never had a clue what was going on. Something about Fromsoft cryptic storytelling makes it go through one ear and out the other. Played for like 60 hours before I realized I had no idea why I was even doing anything. Usually I'm the lore-master dang it.

That's just Fromsoft storytelling in general. It takes a while to piece it all together. Since the games are usually set in the aftermath of big cataclysmic events/eras it's like putting together history.

Also there's a dude on youtube called VaatiVidya that's basically the Fromsoft historian and a ton of people just watch his videos to figure it all out

Yeah I just wish it connected more with me because everybody else seems to get it. I can't even remotely keep track of these characters or their motivations and it makes me wonder why I'm even on this adventure.

I think you have to be invested and into their storytelling to get something out of their stories. I like eeading descriptions, repeatedly talking to npcs, a***yze the various locations, taking notes of all this and piecing together the puzzle, with the help of other members of the community. But someone who isnt really attracted by this will have a harder time, a lot of people prefer direct storytelling which is fair and understandable

It also helps if it isn’t your first souls game lol. Dark souls 1 I was lost AS F*** lmao but eventually I caught on and the mythos got me hooked. I think Elden ring by design of being grander might be harder to follow at first with so much going on where as their previous games were a little more narrow in scope and story.

I'm not a fan of From Soft's storytelling tbh It's way too cryptic to figure out on your own. You pretty much need to rely on Vaatya and other people online to have a clue of wtf is going on. And I've only played DS2 and Bloodborne, can't imagine how much this game has going on

Like I know it looks incredibly basic by Fromsoft standards now but there an emotional core missing when you get so cryptic, compared to how hard something like this can floor you

You dont gotta feel stupid at all the Lore is made to be discovered. Everything in from softwares vision of souls games is about encouraging exploration and discovery.

Wether its new weapons, secret areas or the lore its all supposed to be part of the entire vibe tht motivates us to learn and share about the world

I think the lore and npcs you find in the world are just part of the rewards layed out in the world. Youll get as much out of the lore as you put into it. But its perfectly fine to just beat the big bosses too

Got into debates about this on here before, but if I don't understand most of your game's story by playing the game - that's bad storytelling imo SotC a good example of cryptic storytelling done well imo. Or Bioshock Infinite, but that game just exposition dumps you at the end

Same "show, don't tell" rules from cinema apply to gaming. The more organic the storytelling the better. Probably very f***in difficult to do well.

I like it their worlds are some of the most interesting I’ve seen in any game

Sekiro is the most straight forward they’ve been with their storytelling and that was equally awesome but I’ve always dug the weirdo cryptic style that they do with Souls

Its so old school yet somehow devs just stopped doing it

At the end of the day „all“ from soft does is make the s*** you see in the world have meaning.

Other games got 20 hours of cinematic cutscenes and endless texture fidelity yet the maps where you actually play the game still falls flat on its face

Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki said the "possibility" for a sequel or more DLC is still there.

"We don't want to say this is the end of the Elden Ring saga for now," he said. "I think we said a similar thing at the end of Dark Souls 3. We didn't want to flatten those possibilities or put a pin in them just at that time. And it's a similar story with Elden Ring. We don't want to discourage the possibilities for that. There might be more ideas in the future.

"We don't have any current plans to make a second DLC or a sequel, but we definitely don't want to snuff out that possibility. We think that there could well be something the future.

Obviously far from any sort of hard confirmation, Miyazaki's comments will inevitably fuel plenty of speculation about Elden Ring 2 and/or another expansion.

S*** sold like hot cakes I won’t be surprised if we get more of them. Unlike dark souls though there is no repetition of linking the fire so I’d be curious how a sequel would play out.

Forgot how choppy the native PS5 version is, even with a VRR TV it feels like it’s constantly below 60. Just gonna download the PS4 version and get a stable framerate. I wish From would’ve done a better job at optimizing it because native version load times are so much faster.

Metroid isnt as deep and complex as a from story can get tho, not that its a bad thing of course, i also enjoy Metroid stories. Im somewhat of the curious type and i like to piece things together, so their storytelling approach works for me, and it helps that they're very intriguing stories as well

I'm talking about Super Metroid mainly. The subtlest one.
